Cosmic Cat Acquires UK Distribution for Multi-Award winning US Doc “Not Going Quietly”

Acclaimed US documentary NOT GOING QUIETLY has been acquired by Glasgow based distributor Cosmic Cat ahead of its UK premiere at Glasgow Film Festival 22. The film, directed by Nicholas Bruckman and produced by Bruckman and Amanda Roddy through production company People’s Television, follows the inspirational campaign of Ady Barkan, whose life is upended when he is diagnosed with ALS (Motor Neurone Disease). From grassroots activism, to a national movement that leads all the way to Washington D.C., Ady is catapulted to fame when he confronts a powerful senator on the damage being done to himself and millions of Americans by brutal government healthcare reforms.

The UK premiere of the SXSW Audience Award winner and IDA nominee will take place at GFF22 on Wednesday 9th of March, where director Nicholas Bruckman and Executive Producer and star of The West Wing Bradley Whitford are set to appear virtually for a special Q&A event.

The film will then be released in select cinemas across the UK from the 18th March.

“I’m thrilled to finally bring Not Going Quietly to audiences in the UK with the passionate team at Cosmic Cat, and to hold our UK premiere at the prestigious Glasgow Film Festival,” shared Bruckman. “While Ady Barkan’s rallying cry is for healthcare justice and democracy in the U.S., his resilience, humor, and hope for a better world are all universal – and I can’t wait to bring his story across the pond.”

“We are so delighted that we have been able to bring this beautiful, life-affirming documentary to the Glasgow Film Festival and to UK cinemas,” added Ged Fitzsimmons. “Ady Barkan is a national hero in the US and will undoubtedly be received as a hero by audiences in the UK. Not Going Quietly is an inspirational, real life story of grassroots activism and triumph of human spirit in the face of adversity. To those in the US, it is a wake up call to the reality of privatised health care. In the UK, I hope that Ady’s story serves as a reminder of the fragile and sacred nature of the NHS and of the power of community activism.”
