DEPUTY ZHOU JUN: LET DIGITAL ACHIEVEMENTS BENEFIT THE PUBLIC

Zhou Jun, Party secretary of NetEase, an internet giant based in Hangzhou, was interviewed ahead of the fifth session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress on Jan 28.

Zhou said he hoped that the digital economy could benefit the public, replacing confusing numbers with considerate services in Hangzhou.

In recent years, he has been dedicated to developing digital education, smart healthcare, and smart elderly care.

In 2018, NetEase launched a public welfare project known as An LCD Screen, through which the internet giant donated electronic screens to primary and middle schools in remote areas and encouraged teachers across the country to hold online classes for students.

“Distance will no longer be a barrier and students in these areas can now benefit from high-quality educational resources, allowing them to change their destinies,” Zhou said in Hangzhou China.

He is also focusing on elderly care and striving to use technology like the internet of things and artificial intelligence to help senior citizens and their offspring better understand their health.

Zhou also proposed stricter measures on the sharing of health information, as some information from unknown sources may lack evidence and mislead the public.
