Hetal Ramesh Patel, DO, MBS, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who’s Who. As the associate medical director at Capital Health, she has played a pivotal role in enhancing patient care by decreasing patients’ length of stay and increasing the quality of care and client satisfaction since 2024. Her responsibilities include clinical leadership in practice operations, quality assurance, compliance and policy and program development. She helps drive practice transformation by identifying and implementing methods to improve efficiency, safety, financial performance, and service quality including setting clinical protocols, providing peer reviews and partnering with directors and practice administration. Additionally, she collaborates with educational leadership to provide a supportive learning environment for residents and medical students. She has also served as a hospitalist at Capital Health since 2020.

Before her current roles, Dr. Patel was a hospitalist with Team Health from 2017 to 2018. Her career journey includes being a physician advisor and hospitalist at Bayonne Medical Center under CarePoint Health in Bayonne, New Jersey. She spent one year as a hospitalist at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey, and another year at Rochester General Hospital from 2016 to 2017. Her early career was marked by her tenure as a hospitalist with CarePoint Health from 2013 to 2016 following her residency at Christ Hospital through the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey from 2010 to 2013.

Dr. Patel’s professional affiliations are extensive and reflect her commitment to advancing the field of osteopathic medicine. She has been treasurer and board member of the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners since 2022. Her involvement with the American Osteopathic Association’s House of Delegates began in 2014. She served as president of the New Jersey Association of Osteopathic Physicians & Surgeons from 2021 to 2022 and was on its board of directors for thirteen years. Her memberships extend to the American Association for Physician Leadership, the Federation of State Medical Boards as a fellow, the National Scholars Honor Society, and the Psi Chi Honor Society.

Dr. Patel’s academic background laid a strong foundation for her career achievements. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathy from the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2010. Prior to that, she completed a Master of Biomedical Sciences at the same institution in 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in chemistry from William & Mary, graduating in 2004. She attributes her success to the support of her family and her passion for caring for acutely ill patients, which led her to pursue osteopathic medicine due to its focus on whole-body treatment.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Patel is actively involved with civic-minded organizations such as the New Jersey Maternal Care Quality Collaborative. Her dedication to excellence has been recognized with several awards, including a Citation for Outstanding Work as a Physician from the Senate and General Assembly of New Jersey in 2022 and a Faculty Appreciation Award in 2015.

Outside her professional life, Dr. Patel was born in Toronto and enjoys engaging in crafts and traveling during her leisure time. Looking ahead, she plans to further her career in medical administration with aspirations to impact hospital systems globally. To support this goal, she is working towards obtaining her Master of Business Administration.
