Expanding Fear Free Pet Care: Certification Program for Pet Sitters Launches Today

With existing programs for veterinary professionals, animal trainers, and groomers, the Pet Sitter Certification Program is Fear Free’s newest effort to expand its reach.

“Beatsomeone”, a music distribution platform based on Blockchain technology.

“Did you know that the BTS song “Dynamite” was made by a non-famous songwriter from the United Kingdom?” Like this example, there are a lot of composers who have great skill but are not so well-known. “Our goal is to make these composer’s songs famous worldwide. “Beatsomeone” is a music distribution platform based on Blockchain technology. In here the 1st step creator and 2nd step creator, buy and sell their beats. It is the foundation of a song. The beat is a basic step of the instrumental. In the past, a single person was making the entire song. Nowadays, experts of each process of making music are working together to complete a song, so these kinds of platforms are highlighted.

“Beatsomeone” connects musicians all around the world with their platform. We interviewed Yong-Hwan Kim(38), CEO of Beatsomeone, located in Seoul, South Korea.

Blockchain, solution for music piracy
Before Kim establishes his own company, he worked for Korea’s leading entertainment agencies, such as YG entertainment, IHQ, Cube entertainment for 12 years. His role in those companies was to discover new ways to generate profits, other than traditional media like TV, advertisement, concerts, etc. Then he went to a company named Womanstock, an online beauty shopping taking a role as Strategy Manager. With his success, he suddenly decided to build his own business about music by himself.

“I accomplished a lot, while I was working for the team. However, I always had a desire for myself that I did not do any business for myself. When I accomplished something on behalf of my company, I was not satisfied. Wondering “Can I do this by myself?”, I decided to start something before it is too late to do music source business,” Yong-Hwan Kim said.

Beatsomeone is an ICT platform based on Blockchain technology. Its service makes people buy and sell their music sources all around the world. People selling and buying their music sources on this platform are creators like beatmakers, composers, producers, and musicians.

People in need like rappers, musicians, artists can buy beats on this platform as well, to create another value of it.

Film producers, Game developers, Youtubers are constructing partnerships with Beatsomeone, those are all music consumers. Nowadays webtoons (internet comics) are being made into movies, and Youtube playlist exclusive songs are getting famous too, enriching Beatsomeone’s target market bigger.

“Korea is not familiar with buying & selling music sources like beats, but its market is getting bigger globally, making more than $180 billion and Europe are building a solid market for music source transactions. Until 3 years ago, the United States was ranked #7 of all countries that consuming K-POPs, but now it is the second-largest market in the world, grew more than 700%. This is the reason why I thought this is the perfect time for us to make K-POP more famous worldwide by targeting the U.S. market,” he said.

The music trend is rapidly changing these days, so are the composing methods. Single composers spent a lot of time by themselves to make one song playable, but now it is different. Genres like Hip-Hop, Dance, EDM artists are buying songs for themselves, edit the song/beat with their own musical inspirations to compose a new song.

“Since we distribute music according to this demand, we sell it including copyright. Of course, we offer it as a lease for members who only need it for a short period of time.”

Wondering, why are they paying attention to blockchain technology? In response, he said it was an alternative to piracy that would appear when music was released online. After taking advice from various people, including current producers and musicians, he planned the platform and conducted surveys.

“The beat is not a complete music source. Therefore, it is difficult to register with the Music Copyright Association. After registering, there is a lot of paperwork left. So I thought a lot about how to solve this problem. And the solution we found is blockchain technology,” he said.

To explain the principle, tokens are created in the blockchain when producers register their music sources. Therefore, all activities, distribution contents, and settlement details of the music source are stored, encrypted recorded transparently.

“Beatsomeone has the highest level of technology among Korean competitors. It does not lag behind its global competitors. Nowadays NFT(Non-Fungible Token) is getting interested, and we have blockchain technology to specialize NFT to music market aspect. Seriously communicating with co-operators.”

Ultimate goal is to distribute all local music worldwide
Wondered what is his biggest concern while running his company.
“I am thinking the most about branding and market position in Korea.” He said,
Since It is not easy to convert markets that remain in the existing offline distribution system online.

“I think it is important to improve awareness and persuade. Fortunately, many people think positively about Beatsomeone. So, I expect to grow a lot this year.”

High growth is already proved. Beatsomeone Corp. was selected as the 11th core start-up program of Korea SMEs and Startups Agency. It was selected for the second consecutive year following the 10th program.

“I am grateful to the judges for their appreciation. Our biggest advantage is that we can start aggressive businesses using the infrastructure of our internal team members. Another strength is that there is no similar platform with a high share in Korea. This year, we received high praise for our technological advancements.”

It also supports musicians. Beatsomeone held an award ceremony for beatmakers at the end of last year. Beatmakers contribute greatly to the development of public music, but have been alienated from events such as awards ceremonies. He said he plans to use the award ceremony to find and support talented beatmakers.

“Even though, a job named beatmaker has become slightly known through music programs such as ‘Show me The Money’, they still receive low attention. I held an award ceremony at the end of last year since I wanted to create an award ceremony for these beatmakers. Thankfully, KOCCA and NAVER OGQ supported this ceremony and awarded 20 beatmakers successfully.”

Asked him about his future goals. He said he wants to go beyond K-pop and ultimately distribute local music from all over the world. Through this, his goal is to grow into a global content distribution company.

“The short-term goal is to have many members selling beats. This is because more sellers will increase the number of their music. We are preparing to distribute not only beats but also finished instrumentals. Since instrumental is a finished song, we are also preparing a system to match buyers.”

Finally, he said he was in the process of partnering with companies to secure long-term demand. He also wants to enter into partnerships with companies in many countries around the world.

“Currently, we are strategically contracting with companies from various countries, including German artificial intelligence (AI) music technology company, American animation producer, and Japanese music distributor. In addition, we received seed investments last year and are focusing on attracting investors. As a result, the goal is to connect music lovers all around the world.”

However, simple infrastructure management and configuration tasks are the most complex ones, requiring the most time and distracting their team members from strategic new technologies. Axcelinno partnered with the team at RedHat® to leverage the power and flexibility of infrastructure-as-code methodologies and platforms to standardize the configuration and enforce compliance of the MGE infrastructure.

“Axcelinno was committed to Mohegan’s success from the beginning. We never doubted they had our best interest in mind. Axcelinno was in constant communication working on a game plan to facilitate the deployment of Ansible within our environment, [even when] COVID-19 hit.” says Timothy O’Leary, Director of Global Architecture Information Technology, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.

MGE is expanding into different landscapes both domestically and internationally. The gaming industry domestically is becoming less of a destination-based industry and becoming more regional-based gaming. Guests don’t have to travel as far to get the same gaming product. This changes the way MGE approaches technology to solve common problems. Key to MGE’s strategy to become a default choice for gaming patrons, they decided to improve their customer loyalty program. This created a critical time challenge, as each regional location took weeks to stand up their loyalty program infrastructure.

Due to the manual involvement required by the infrastructure-related tasks, adding a new property to the loyalty program previously required six full-time employees two weeks to provision and configure load balancers, servers, and databases. The manual provisioning and configuration were delaying the project and time to market. MGE focused on finding a way to automate this process, but when COVID-19 hit, MGE decided to put the effort on hold.

However, Axcelinno understood the importance of the automation effort to MGE. Axcelinno was in constant communication with MGE and built a plan to facilitate the deployment of Ansible within the MGE environment.

“Axcelinno turned their attention to the Mohegan team members, making sure we were okay in the given situation and putting conversations to the side while we adjusted to more pressing problems. This is when we knew we chose the right partner. When we were ready, Axcelinno worked with us in creative ways to achieve our ultimate goal of getting a DevOps automation tool in place.” said O’Leary.

In less than four weeks, Axcelinno stood up Ansible and had automated MGE’s process involving networking infrastructure, AS400, VMWare, DNS/DHCP provisioning, databases, and software platforms. The Axcelinno team also used its unique mentoring model to provide hands-on training and coaching to the MGE team. Axcelinno’s Ansible Automation Rapid Start program reduced MGE’s time required to provision and configure the infrastructure to hours per location from weeks. Through a partnership with Axcelinno and Red Hat, MGE solved the common problem of doing more with less. With the introduction of the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, MGE continues to provide a great customer experience while bringing efficiency to its infrastructure. COVID-19 put the engagement at risk. However, Axcelinno’s commitment to MGE’s automation journey using Ansible and implementing the playbooks for MGE’s environment, and mentoring MGE’s team members remained the same. Axcelinno’s Red Hat Ansible Automation Rapid Start program allowed MGE to purchase the software, professional services for setup and playbook implementation using best practices, and training as a single package.

requests to allow for more hands-on learning. Walking away from this rapid standup engagement, Mohegan team members are well trained, Ansible has fully stood up with integrations into the Mohegan environment as great examples that have set us up for success going forward,” said O’Leary.

Travel Back in Time on a Virtual 3D Tour to the Famed Roman Temples of Baalbek

The famous temple complex of Baalbek, the ancient Heliopolis in Lebanon, is one of the largest Roman religious sites in the world and part of the world heritage. Baalbek has a rich history that goes back to around 8,000 BC. The remaining six pillars of the Temple of Jupiter are now a landmark of Lebanon. On March 31, the “Baalbek Reborn: Temples” app from Flyover Zone will launch using the latest technology to reconstruct what today’s ruins looked like in the past. On a journey through time, the virtual tour brings this heritage back to life and shows the Temple of Jupiter Heliopolitanus, the Temple of Bacchus, the Temple of Venus and the Temple of the Muses.

“BAALBEK REBORN: TAMPLES” APP FROM FLYOVER ZONE

This extraordinary experience is the result of a collaboration between the Lebanese General Department of Antiquities (DGA), the German Archaeological Institute (DAI) and Flyover Zone, a US-based company that specializes in virtual time travel to cultural heritage sites. Experts from the DAI who have been working on the site since 1998 provided the scientific basis for the 3D reconstructions. By using the latest technology, Flyover Zone succeeded in creating an impressive experience taking users on a journey into the past.

“What’s fascinating about Baalbek is not only the Roman temples, but also its almost 10,000-year history,” stresses Margarete van Ess, director of the Orient Department of the German Archaeological Institute and longstanding head of scientific research in Baalbek. “As an archaeologist, finds and research results give me images in my mind of what this special place looked like at that time. It’s fantastic that the temples are now given shape in the app and can be viewed by people all over the world!” says van Ess.

The depth and relevance of the scientific knowledge conveyed via the app makes Baalbek Reborn: Temples unique. Users can choose to move either virtually through today’s excavation site or through the digital reconstruction of the ancient religious sites. The audio track, optionally in Arabic, French, English or German, provides scientifically sound knowledge and explanations. There are 38 stops distributed across the temple complexes, presented by the researchers of the DAI. This makes the app equally interesting for laypeople and experts.

Bernard Frischer, founder and president of Flyover Zone stated: “For Flyover Zone, this project has been a dream come true. In addition to the sheer size of the Baalbek sanctuary, its cultural significance cannot be exaggerated. In antiquity, people from distant points of the empire consulted the oracle of Baalbek, and we even have records of emperors doing so, too. Now we are using what we learned to bring Baalbek into the classrooms and living rooms of students and the general public. We hope that thousands of people around the world will download the virtual tour and use it to whet their appetite to visit the site when the COVID-19 pandemic passes and international travel is possible again.”

“The Baalbek Reborn: Temples” virtual tour is provided free of charge thanks to the generosity of Bassam Alghanim who donated the funds in loving memory of his parents, Yusuf and Ilham Alghanim. The DAI and Flyover Zone thus contribute to promoting a deeper understanding of the importance of the ancient temples, making scientific knowledge more widely accessible and promoting Baalbek as an important tourist site.

The virtual tour can be downloaded for use on smartphones and tablets (Android, iOS), PCs and laptops (Macintosh, Windows 10) as well as VR headsets (Oculus Go, Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Rift-S, HTC Vive).

David Israel Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Tourism

Outside of his primary responsibilities with the Twin Peaks Tour, Mr. Israel has also dedicated his time and efforts to those less fortunate as a volunteer with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Although his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Israel is most proud of establishing his own business. For his excellence in the industry, he was presented with the Top Attraction Award for Twin Peaks Tour through Lux Life Magazine in 2019, as well as a Traveler’s Choice Award through Trip Advisor in 2020.
