Assent Aeronautics Places $200 Million+ in Aircraft Transactions, Taps Jake Banglesdorf to Lead Transaction & Advisory Business Unit & Reports Annual Results

Private Aircraft Auction House and industry-leading aircraft brokerage firm Assent Aeronautics created a new way to buy and sell aircraft in 2019 with the launch of the Assent Live Private Aircraft Auction Series. In 2020, Assent pivoted to bring the auctions online amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and saw $180MM+ in aircraft cross the auction block. In 2021, Assent built upon that foundation to realize over $200MM+ in aircraft transactions across live private aircraft auctions, traditional aircraft brokerage, and a transformational aviation lease management practice.

Highlights of ASSENT Aeronautics 2021 Results:

  • 50 + Aircraft Transacted Including Sales and Lease Placements
  • $250MM + in Aircraft Value Transacted
  • Assent Ends Year as a Top Ten Aircraft Broker, Globally, for the Second Year in a Row by Volume
  • 12% of Transactions Include International Buyers
  • Assent Extends Leasing and Support Programs to Bizliner Airframes, including CRJs, BBJs, and ACJs
  • 20 + Aircraft Join Assent’s Aviation Lease Management Practice including Citation Xs, BBJs, Challengers, & Gulfstreams
  • 12 + Currently Available BizJets for Lease and Delivery in 2022 for which Assent is Actively Accepting LOIs
  • 1 Billion + Impressions Generated Across All Marketing Channels
  • No. 1 – Straight and Level, the TV Series Produced by Assent Media + Entertainment, is the No. 1 Watched Non-Fiction Aviation Show on Television.
  • 1.4MM + Weekly Total Viewership of Straight and Level Across All Distribution Platforms

While demand for private travel seesawed from historic lows to historic highs within a 12-month period, Assent was successful in adapting to industry and client demands. In the middle of a global pandemic, the Assent Live Private Aircraft Auction Series delivered results with over $180MM in aircraft crossing the auction block. Now on the other side of the trough, nationwide charter operators are struggling to deliver, facing unprecedented demand, with some operators even dozens of aircraft short with an avalanche of holiday travel looming. Assent once again delivered by successfully launching a best-of-breed aviation lease management practice to place lease fleet and leaseback aircraft with industry-leading FAA Part 135 Operators. Assent’s lease management practice focuses on King Air 350, Citation X, Challenger, Gulfstream, and BizLiner airframes.

“For aircraft owners who want to realize lease revenue from their jet, Assent’s aviation lease management practice is the solution that guarantees lease revenue, provides maintenance and financial oversight to protect your investment in aviation, and ensures you, the aircraft owner, have control over your invested dollar in the face of historic demand.” Said W. Hulsey Smith, Founder, and President of Assent Aeronautics. “Our research, analysis, and industry intelligence all point to the continuation of 30%+ growth in demand through 2022. In the near-term, demand will undoubtedly continue to outstrip supply, giving way to higher charter rates, increasing lease rates, and unprecedented asset appreciation.”

Assent Aeronautics has also tapped current AVP Jake Banglesdorf to serve as Executive Vice President of Assent’s aircraft transaction and advisory business unit. Jake, individually, ended both 2020 and 2021 as a top-5 aircraft broker under 40 by volume globally. In his new role, Jake will lead and manage the Assent Live Private Aircraft Auction Series, traditional aircraft brokerage, and Assent’s aviation lease management practice. He is charged with scaling all three components of the business unit and adding brokers to meet increasing demand. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and the trust that Hulsey and the Smith Family has put in me to lead this team and grow this business unit. They have given me all of the tools needed to be successful, including access to growth capital and the ability to add seasoned aircraft brokers to our roaster.” Said Jake Banglesdorf, newly appointed Executive Vice President of Assent Aeronautics. “Beyond organic growth, as we look to 2022 we are considering accretive M&A opportunities as well.”

Bronze sculpture by Henry Moore (British, 1898-1986) will headline Shannon’s Fall Fine Art Auction, Thursday, October 28

The 180-lot auction is packed with 20th century American art, 19th century European art, Hudson River School painting and Modernism and Contemporary art.

Shannon’s has collected an exceptional group of 180 artworks to be offered in their Fall Fine Art Auction on Thursday, October 28th, beginning promptly at 6 pm Eastern time. There are spectacular offerings in every category, particularly 20th century American art, 19th century European art, Hudson River School painting, Modernism and Contemporary art.
Headlining the auction are two works by celebrated the British Modernist, Henry Moore. Moore, best known as a sculptor, was a skilled draughtsman often working out concepts for his sculptures on paper. Shannon’s will offer both a bronze, Mother and Child on Ladderback Rocking Chair (estimated at $400,000-$600,000) and a colored, mixed-media work on paper, titled Rocking Chairs (estimate $100,000-$200,000) related to the series of mother and child sculptures on rocking bases.
The bronze, from an edition of 9, was intended to rock back and forth, adding charm and playfulness to the warm subject matter. It was purchased directly from Moore’s New York City dealer in 1952. The drawing, created in 1948, illustrates Moore’s various approaches to the mother and child theme. Although the work is a study on paper, Moore clearly conceived of his works as volumetric sculptures, drawing shadows and motion into his designs.

A large, 80 inch by 150 inch painting by the Chilean artist Roberto Matta carries a pre-sale estimate of $150,000-$250,000. The untitled painting presents an alternative, futuristic, dreamlike universe with hypersexualized, androgynous humanoid figures typical of his paintings from mid-century. Other highlights in Modern and Contemporary include a monochromatic abstract painting by Russian artist Serge Poliakoff, a bright, expressive watercolor by Paul Jenkins and two works from the estate of Gerome Kamrowski.
Two superb works on paper by Charles Burchfield lead the offerings of 20th century American art. January Sun, measuring an impressive 40 inches by 34 inches, depicts a view in Buffalo outside the artist’s home and studio. Burchfield started the composition in 1947 and finished it in 1957. Estimated at $150,000-$250,000 this market-fresh watercolor has been in a private collection for nearly 50 years and is in excellent original condition. From the same collection, another Burchfield, titled Lincoln Avenue at Salem, Main Street, is expected to bring $70,000-$90,000. Dated 1916, the work illustrates a scene from Burchfield’s native Ohio during an early period in his career. Loosely associated with the Regionalist artists, Burchfield found inspiration in his immediate surroundings.
From the same collection a rare Thomas Hart Benton oil study, Study for Sugar Cane, will be offered with an expected selling price of $200,000-$300,000. The oil sketch reads much larger than its size, and is almost identical to the larger, finished composition now in the collection of the Thomas Hart Benton Trust.
Other highlights in American art include a snowy view of the financial district by Guy C. Wiggins (estimate $100,000-$150,000); a Luminist vista of the Susquehanna River by John F. Cropsey (estimate $80,000-$120,000); a large view of Niagara Falls by Hermann Herzog (estimate $40,000-$60,000); a portrait of a woman by Charles Courtney Curran (estimate $40,000-$60,000); a large forest interior by Worthington Whittredge (estimate $40,000-$60,000); a masterpiece-quality work by Felicie Waldo Howell (estimate $30,000-$50,000); and a portfolio of 96 watercolors by Fidelia Bridges (estimate $30,000-$50,000).
European paintings include a portrait of the opera character Musette from Puccini’s La Boheme by Italian Academic artist Eugene von Blaas, estimated at $100,000-$150,000; and a portrait of a wealthy Viennese banker by Isidor Kaufmann, estimated at $100,000-$150,000.
To view the full catalog, condition reports and to bid live online, visit www.shannons.com. Previews will be held by appointment only, October 18th-27th, weekdays from 11 am to 6 pm Eastern time, and Saturday, October 23rd from 10-3. Virtual previews and additional photos are available by request.
Bidding is available by telephone, absentee or live on shannons.com. A live-stream of the auction will be broadcast on shannons.com. Albert Boufarah is Featured in a Forthcoming Professional Profile

During the course of the profile, the founder and chief executive of computer recycling firm SAMR Inc. deals with a wide variety of subjects, including how the idea for an electronics recycling firm occurred to him and what motivates him to keep expanding his business.

When a web-based journalist approached Albert Boufarah, the founder and CEO of electronic waste (e-waste) recycling firm SAMR Inc., about being featured in an in-depth professional profile, he agreed readily, eager to share his accumulated wisdom with the world. The profile, which was conducted on behalf of a noted online periodical aimed at tech-savvy businesspeople and entrepreneurs, is scheduled to be published in the coming days.

Early on in the piece, Albert is asked what prompted the thought of starting an e-waste & laptop recycling company in the first place. “As I learned more and more about the recycling process, I couldn’t help but notice one or two overarching themes at play in the industry at the time. The first was that beginning in the last decades of the 20th century, companies, organizations, and individuals were throwing away an increasingly large amount of electronic equipment. My interest was piqued by this development, and so I dug in and did some research,” he explains, elaborating, “I found out that not only are many of the key components of electronic devices toxic if left to erode in a normal landfill, but also that a good deal of them are made from rare metals. That’s when I had the ‘eureka’ moment that establishing a company that responsibly disposed of these potentially dangerous items could simultaneously benefit the environment and make for a successful business. It was at that moment that SAMR Inc. came to fruition.”

Later on in the interview, upon being asked what motivates him to keep growing his business, Albert Boufarah responds that professional & personal factors are the driving forces in his life. “Simply put, it’s my children. I love them both so much, and I resolved a long time ago to do whatever was in my power to make the world they inherit a better place,” he responds in a moment of true candor, before widening the scope of his answer. “Although, if I’m being really honest, it’s about more than that. Sure, I think of my children first-any father would-but, ultimately, it’s really about everyone’s children. It’s about the future of the human race and the planet Earth. I think that broadening the reach of SAMR Inc. contributes to the sustainability of society. The more material our company recycles, the better shape the planet will be in for future generations.”

Anyone curious to learn more about Albert Boufarah’s professional endeavors & goal of helping the environment is encouraged to visit his personal website, while anyone interested to learn more about SAMR Inc. and the many services it provides is encouraged to visit the company’s official website.

About Albert Boufarah:

Originally from Freehold, NJ, Albert Boufarah is a veteran businessman & a self-professed “serial entrepreneur”. He started his first two companies in early adulthood, one dealing with traditional waste management and the other dealing with tree and yard waste disposal. With the success of these two companies, Albert Boufarah established himself as a force to be reckoned with in New Jersey’s highly-competitive waste disposal industry.

Later, as he became more educated and concerned with climate change and other environmental issues, Albert turned his efforts toward finding eco-friendly solutions to waste management. As the millennium dawned, Albert established SAMR Inc. in order to realize his ambition of an industrial-scale, environmentally sustainable electronics recycling company and do his part to assist with the rehabilitation of the planet. In the years since, SAMR Inc. has surpassed his expectations in the realms of positive ecological and social impact, as well as expansion and profitability. Although he wears many hats professionally, Albert Boufarah views his position as the CEO of SAMR Inc. as his primary role.

About SAMR Inc.:

SAMR Inc. is one of the world’s premier electronics recycling companies. It provides solutions for businesses, schools, hospitals, towns, and government entities looking to dispose of e-waste. The professional services that SAMR Inc. offers range from e-waste & TV recycling to secure data destruction to information technology asset management. With more than twenty years experience and a state-of-the-art recycling facility located on premises, SAMR Inc. is one of only a handful of companies that can legally collect, demanufacture, and safely recycle computers and computer components. SAMR Inc. is headquartered in Lakewood, New Jersey, and services most of the Eastern United States.

World’s First Student-Led Global Event on Mental Health & Climate Change

Students take their future into their own hands by uniting artists, leaders, experts, and activists to discuss The Impact of Climate Change On Mental Health.

In light of the recent IPCC report on the human impacts of climate change, the upcoming G20 climate summit and COP26, the London based organisation World Citizen Artists (WCA) is empowering students to organise a ground-breaking global event in partnership with the World Federation for Mental Health, artists, university associations, and nonprofit organisations.

The two-day online global event is sponsored by World Citizen Artists (WCA), Bristol Students Union, and S&P Global. It will kick off on Saturday November 6th at 2pm on Hopin. The lineup includes panel discussions where students, experts, leaders, activists, and TED speakers will discuss the impact of climate change on people’s psychological well-being.

“Climate change and mental health are global challenges we all face. Empowering the new generation with real-world experience and knowledge means empowering our future. Artists from our community are very supportive of the next generation and it’s been amazing to see students, creatives, leaders, experts and activists getting together to share their common goals. This shows the world can come together no matter what our differences. We should give a chance to the next generation, and help them succeed” – says Valerie Won Lee, founder of WCA.

“At S&P Global, we have witnessed first-hand a growing concern among organisations and investors about the impacts of climate change, with ‘climate anxiety’ presenting a growing threat to mental health”, says Michael Wilkins, Senior Research Fellow, Sustainable Finance at S&P Global Ratings. “To combat this, education is key. This is why we are proud to sponsor this year’s World Citizen Society Global Event, which looks to arm the new generation with the tools and support necessary to cope with change.”

Panelists include Elizabeth Wathuti, Kenyan environmental and climate activist and founder of the Green Generation Initiative. The organisation has planted 30,000 tree seedlings in Kenya. Multi-millionaire tycoon and founder of the World Toilet Organisation, Jack Sim will also be joining one of the panel discussions along with Oxford and Bristol students, as will Claire Gao Pei, climate, sustainability, and energy Representative of the Y20, U.S. delegation to the G20 Youth Summit.

Miss Environment Africa Nazarene University 2021, Fionah Njeri will be joining the interview with international Maori Artist George Nuku.

Musicians, including Colombian artist Marta Gomez, will be performing at the event, using their creative talents to give voice to the challenges humanity is facing.

The event will also offer virtual face to face networking opportunities and discussions on climate change and mental health, and there will be a students’ chill out lounge and an artists’ lounge. The aim is to encourage interaction and constructive debate so that students can learn more about real-world experience from professionals, artists, and activists — and reflect on their role and action when it comes to changing our future.

“As a student at the university of Bristol, I have been volunteering for WCA (on the event) for eight months now. Within this space of time, I’ve learned the leadership skills that I’ve sought elsewhere, but not found. I have willingly been pushed outside of my comfort zone, and have learned the communication skills required in situations I will find myself in for the rest of my working life. I’ve connected with the individuals who have founded the organisations responsible for social change. This has made me realise that all it takes is the courage and motivation to speak up, to create big things. With the skills that I’ve acquired, I now feel empowered with the knowledge that I’m able to fight for social justice” – says Emelye Goult, WCA sponsorship coordinator

Mother’s Death Leads Daughter to Dream Destiny Job – Leeza’s Care Connection Addresses the Caregiver Crisis With New Staff and Programs

As we recognize World Mental Health Day (October 10), there is an invisible army of those for whom anxiety and depression is at an all-time high. They are family care- partners/caregivers for someone they love who is sick. The evidence is clear; caregivers feel more worried and more stressed than ever before. The pandemic has added more financial burdens and complications for family members who care. Depression among caregivers and care receivers is at epidemic proportions. The non-profit, Leeza’s Care Connection, is answering the call for help by adding new programs and team members to address the crisis.

TV host and NY Times best-selling author Leeza Gibbons, the founder of Leeza’s Care Connection says, “Our team is growing to meet the increased demands of caregivers, whose difficult jobs became nearly impossible because of Covid. Leading the list of new hires is Terri Towle as Director of Fund Development. Terri is an experienced fundraiser and creative leader who will be engaging new communities and supporters to bolster the organization’s signature programs and grow diversity. Cyndi Boot becomes the new Resource Assistant ensuring delivery of the organization’s promise to connect caregivers to resources, support and community.

They have also named Peggy Jones as Activities Director for the Silver Lining Club, a respite program offering activities, socialization and recreation to enhance and improve the lives of individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Peggy and her mom Phyllis were among the first participants in the program, and now as Activities Director of Silver Lining Peggy has come full circle in her dementia journey. She says, “to have this opportunity gives me so much joy and peace knowing I can help give others the blessings mom and I received. It was truly a lifeline for me from the moment I first walked in with mom. Now, more than ever, caregivers need this kind of support.”

During the pandemic, Peggy Jones experienced an extra sense of overwhelm that came along with caring for her mom. Like most caregivers, she often felt stressed and worried. She credits the love and support she received at Leeza’s Care Connection (LCC) with helping her manage her mother Phyllis’ vascular dementia. “I was so grateful to find support for me and my mom”, Peggy says, adding, “I felt welcomed and relieved to find a safe place to voice my concerns and to learn as much as I could.”

As soon as she began joining activities at LCC, Phyllis began to show benefits. Peggy noticed “Mom seemed more confident, secure and she really loved the food, the music and the hugs. Every time we left an event or gathering, we felt special and joyful. I always walked away educated with more tools for how to care for mom.”

Peggy and Phyllis became popular fixtures at LCC since their first visit in 2016, but by 2021, Phyllis passed away. While Peggy was heartbroken, she also felt “relieved because mom was no longer struggling, and I didn’t want her to suffer. I was sad to miss her smile and feel her joy, but I knew I had done as much as I could to give her a peaceful, enriched life.”

The Silver Lining Club at LCC offers a community of diagnosed guests time to be creative, share a meal, sing and engage in activities. Founder Leeza Gibbons says it’s designed to “focus on what’s left instead of what’s lost. Silver Lining Club gives caregivers the respite they need knowing their loved one is being treated with dignity, respect and care”, adding “ We want to make sure that our caregivers don’t become collateral damage during the pandemic. Seeing Peggy honor her mother by stepping into her dream job as our director is proof that memories matter.”

How to Spot the Signs of Human Trafficking – and What to Do Next

Human Trafficking has increased over the last year as the pandemic continues. More citizens need to know the signs and what to do to help.

Police and government agencies say that human trafficking has increased during the pandemic. Now, more than ever, everyone has a role to play in combating human trafficking. Recognizing the signs of human trafficking is the first step to identifying a victim and then taking appropriate action.

Signs of child sex trafficking might include:

• Changes in school attendance, habits, friend groups, vocabulary, demeanor, and attitude
• Sudden appearance of luxury items, e.g., manicures, designer clothes, purses
• Sexually provocative clothing
• Tattoos or branding
• Refillable gift cards
• Multiple phones or social media accounts
• Lying about the existence of social media accounts
• Provocative pictures posted online or stored on the phone
• Unexplained injuries
• Social interaction and schedule being strictly controlled by someone else
• Isolation from family, friends, and community

Anyone can help report human trafficking by paying attention to the red flags listed above and reporting them in a timely manner. Individuals are cautioned to not approach traffickers themselves because they could put themselves in danger and put any future prosecution of the buyers or pimps in danger. It is recommended to call the human trafficking hotline and report any suspected instances of human trafficking. It is better to call and report suspected trafficking than not to report at all. By identifying victims and reporting tips, you are doing your part to help law enforcement rescue victims, and you might save a life.

Contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline (NHTH), call 1-888-373-7888 or text HELP or INFO to BeFree (233733).

You can learn more about the signs of human trafficking by reading other free resources provided by organizations such as Polaris Project.

Parents should know how to strengthen their child’s confidence and reduce their susceptibility to becoming trafficked. At a recent training session, Youth for Human Rights Ambassador Erica Rodgers stated, “A solid understanding of human rights breeds confidence in youth. Pimps and recruiters don’t target confident youth. They look for the shy and insecure youth – the ones they can manipulate. By ensuring youth are confident and know how to protect their rights, we help prevent them from being the target of traffickers.”

Youth for Human Rights International has been working to prevent human trafficking on a national and international level for over a decade. Raising awareness of human rights is the necessary undercut to this and so many other human rights issues. Article 4 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms.” To read all of the human rights as listed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights go to: http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights

One online training event on trafficking organized by Youth for Human Rights included speakers from Airline Ambassadors, the Mexico Coalition against Trafficking, Karana Rising, and other anti-trafficking organizations. Youth for Human Rights in Washington, DC, delivers training on how to spot the signs of human trafficking. This includes special training on how to be aware as a parent, or even a citizen, how to spot key signs and indicators of child sex trafficking, and what you can safely do about it.

Most antlerless mule deer hunting opportunities in the Southeast Region eliminated to help mule deer population

Idaho Fish and Game reminds all deer hunters that most antlerless mule deer hunting opportunities were eliminated for the 2021-2022 seasons in the Southeast Region. This includes general archery-only hunts, general youth-only hunts, controlled youth-only hunts, and extra antlerless controlled hunts.

Why the change to this season’s antlerless deer hunt opportunities? The intent is to increase mule deer abundance and improve general hunter satisfaction in the Southeast Region.

During average winters, adult survival is very high and fawn survival is around 60%. During harsh winters, adult survival can drop (causing severe population declines), and fawn survival can approach zero. Though last winter was mild overall, the Southeast Region has experienced some average to severe winters beginning in 2016 that reduced mule deer abundance. As a result, mule deer hunter harvest, success rates, and general hunter satisfaction in this region have dropped below levels experienced prior to these winter events.

Wildlife managers cannot control the weather. They can, however, use strategies like reducing the harvest of females following a series of tough winters to protect this important reproductive segment of the deer population. Though most antlerless harvest has been eliminated this season and next for the Southeast Region, there are still plenty of deer hunting opportunities in this region for both archery and rifle hunters. And, when mule deer numbers rebound, the option exists to bring back more antlerless opportunities if desired by the hunting public.

Know before you go! Be sure to always check the most current rules and regulations for your favorite seasons and particular hunts. Hunters can find seasons and rules online at https://idfg.idaho.gov or by grabbing a rules brochure at the nearest Fish and Game office or license vendor.

futuresTHRIVE Secures Investment to Accelerate Development of Early-Stage Mental Health Assessment Platform for Children

Startup working to provide doctors and parents with better tools to identify mental health conditions in children at a much earlier age, leading to intervention and better health outcomes

futuresTHRIVE, a startup working to improve early mental health screening, tracking, and outcomes among youth, today announced that it has received a $100,000 investment from the Connecticut Innovations prototype design fund to commence the development of its modernized mental health screener, used to identify mental health conditions in children ages 4-20 (Prototype 9-14). Using a combination of artificial intelligence, sentiment analysis, and machine learning, the fT screener will provide a first-of-its-kind mental health baseline that can be used by doctors and families to better understand a child’s unique mental health qualities.

The investment will enable fT to advance its game platform from design to development while continuing to pursue interest from additional investors. The company expects to launch the platform in late fall of 2021.

“Millions of awareness campaign dollars later, the CDC still reports that 20% of children suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition, half of whom will show signs and symptoms before the age of 14,” said Wendy Ward, fT Founder. “Using our web-based platform, we can help pediatricians and mental health professionals more readily identify mild and moderate risk factors in children that are known to be indicators of mental health concerns. We are grateful to CI for their expression of confidence in our platform and for helping us further our mission of improving the mental health futures of our children.”

fT is comprised of a team of experts in technology, youth mental health, and health statistics who have come together to develop the first significant advancement in early-stage mental health diagnostic tools since the 1990s and create a new vision for pediatric mental health screening. The company has secured key partnerships in healthcare, insurance, and assessment centers and plans to launch the platform in the pediatric market initially with expansion into K-12 education, colleges, universities, hospitals, and clinics.

“Too often today, mental health measures for children begin late and only after severe signs and symptoms have emerged,” Ward continued. “Our platform will arm doctors and parents with actionable insights that can be tracked in the same way as height, weight, and other health measures.”

About futureTHRIVE:
futuresTHRIVE is developing the tools to combat the trajectory of youth mental health concerns and identify and track pediatric mental health easily, early, and often. fT’s groundbreaking early intervention mental health screening tool for youth uses AI and game-based technology to affordably meet the acute needs of doctors, educators, and families.
