PICK-BY-VISION BY PICAVI IN THE AUTOSTORE WAREHOUSE

Pick-by-Vision from Picavi enables intuitive picking in the AutoStore warehouse. With its high storage density, AutoStore technology has established itself as a state-of-the-art solution in many warehouses. AutoStore is a storage technology originally from Norway developed specifically to automate the small-parts warehouse. Now, users with a large number of stock-keeping units and small parts increasingly rely on the system. An AutoStore warehouse consists of modular containers that are stacked on top of each other in an aluminum structure and transported by robots to the respective picking station. Read more.

AutoStore systems build on the classic goods-to-person picking. The pickers’ workstations, known as ports, can be installed anywhere on the sides of the AutoStore warehouse. At the ports, the containers automatically receive the correct goods. The operator picks up the required quantity of goods and the totes are then picked up again by the robot and stored in the system.

The Picavi software receives all the necessary information about the internal structure and contents of the box via the ERP used. The software then visualizes the next picking order for the warehouse employee on the smart glasses.

Current vs. Future State of Warehouse Picking

Whether warehouse or distribution center, the current state of picking remains problematic. These challenges grow more serious as picking migrates to e-retail fulfillment. The metrics and justification of Google Glasses, as a picking methodology, must include a constant, iterative, and continuous process improvement system. This requirement defines the future state of warehouse picking; only Picavi is ready to meet the future state today.

About Picavi USA

Picavi USA Pick-by-Vision solution makes it possible to visually manage the picking process for goods in intralogistics in a consistent manner. Picavi’s Cockpit uses artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and digital twin technology as a breakthrough innovation, maximizing productivity at warehouses and minimizing error rates. Only with this Smart Data technology are e-fulfillment solutions possible, transcending the initial value proposition of Google Glasses.

When wearing the smart glasses, warehouse workers have both hands free for primary tasks, including picking and packing goods. Augmented reality (AR) with context-based information makes work much more precise, predictable, and fun. Google Glasses have become an indispensable part of warehouse life.

MATERIAL HANDLING WHOLESALER LOOKS AT PICAVI PICK-BY-VISION

Larry Olson, Senior Sales Manager at Picavi, the leader in pick-by-vision technology, was recently interviewed by Kevin Lawton, podcast host on The New Warehouse. The interview is featured in Material Handling Wholesaler. Olson and Lawton discussed how picking technology has evolved. Listen to the full interview here.

According to Olson, Picavi has a futuristic solution to picking which is already a reality. This great technology is harnessed for the enterprise in a very smart way. It allows pickers to see the information they need in order to make a successful pick right in front of their eyes at all times as it is projected through the smart glasses. This creates an almost completely hands-free picking solution that speeds up the pick time and increases accuracy.

About Picavi’s Vision-as-a-Service (VaaS)

As order volumes rise, logistics specialists look to introduce a new order picking system or expand their existing inventory of wearables. Too often there is no budget for new procurements. Picavi solves this problem with its new Vision-as-a-Service (VaaS) product category. This offers users unlimited access to the pick-by-vision ecosystem. Picavi has created a win-win scenario that gives everyone incredible flexibility.

As the logistics industry experiences the biggest peak in history, many companies are planning to add more devices to their wearables inventory to stay on top of rising order volumes. Picavi is responding to this demand for easy scalability with its VaaS model. This full-service package, with all the necessary software licenses and release upgrades, along with connection to the WMS or ERP system, are offered at a fixed price.
